Face Cleansning Rules and Midnight Recovery Cleanser Review

I can never stress enough on the importance of cleansing your skin. If you want to have and maintain healthy skin, you must wash twice a day, no excuses. Even if your skin is dry, even if you don't wear
makeup, even if you blah-blah ...No excuses
Now, like with all the skincare, you must find that cleanser that works for you, as a personal advice I would say stay away from everything that foams or/and have soap in it. You want to cleanse your skin but not strip it of its natural oils.

The first step you need to remove the makeup and the sunscreen. Unless you are using waterproof formulas, a regular cleanser will do, but if the formulas are waterproof, please use either a waterproof makeup remover, micellar water or an oil cleanser. I'm the lazy type, and I mostly use an oil formula that dissolves everything.
Don't use hot water, even if it feels like soothing is not, hot water is to aggressive for your skin. On the other hand, cold water might not remove all the makeup and dirt, so use lukewarm to warm water
Follow by a second cleanse.

Use a terry cloth and hand-hot water to remove the second cleanser of your face.
Tap the face dry with a towel and follow with your routine
Do that every day, every single day, your skin will thank you.
Now speaking about Oil cleanser lets get back to our review, I have tested the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleanser from Kiehl's and  here is my experience with it:

What is it
A lightweight oil cleanser to remove makeup and impurities at the end of the day
Who is it for
All skin types
How long did I test it
8 weeks
Claims
This lightweight essential oil cleanser emulsifies with water to a cleansing milk, gently, yet effectively dissolving even the hardest to remove makeup and impurities without over-drying, leaving skin clean and replenished.
Enriched with an aromatic blend of pure botanical oils- Squalane for skin, a planted-derived lipid with a natural affinity for skin, Evening Primrose Oil, rich in Omega-6 Fatty Acids, and Lavender Essential Oil, this all-in-one non-comedogenic cleansing formula leaves skin balanced, soothed and prepared for optimal night-time replenishment

Lavender

How do you use it
Take use just a pump or two of the oil in the palm of ur hand.
Gently massage the oil onto dry skin. Add lukewarm water and massage skin, the oil will emulsify the oil into a gentle cleansing milk. Lastly, rinse face thoroughly and gently pat it dry with a soft, clean towel—don’t rub, the skin doesn't like rubbing.
Follow up with a second cleanser or  the rest of your nightly skin regimen
Kiehls Products I'm currently using

Can it be taken around the eyes
Even if they claim that the formula can  be taken around eyes
Lightweight oil emulsifies with water to gently melt and dissolve all traces of dirt, oil, sunscreen, and face and eye makeup.

I personally got a bit of dry/irritated eyes from it. So I will advise testing your tolerability first.

Can be used for daytime/ morning routine
If your skin is more on the dry side, you can use it as a morning cleanser also. If your skin is a combination to oily, I would not recommend unless you are up for a double cleansing.

What’s good about it
Is a gentle cleanser, natural ingredients smells pleasant, leaves the skin soft and soothed

What is not okay about it
I feel like the formula does not remove the makeup adequately at the end of the day, which ended up causing a bit of breakout in my chin at the beginning (very strange because my skin is on dry to very dry side, I barely ever break out).
Therefore I  ended up using it as a first cleanser; or as a morning cleanser. Also since I got my eyes a bit irritated by it, I also need to use a separate eye makeup remover.

You might not like it because
The formula is scented, although the smell of it is neither strong or unpleasant.
Price, for a cleanser, is pretty expensive.

Price
$32.00 for 5.9 fl. oz / 32,00 € for 175ml -183 € for 1L

  2. Hello and thank you for reviewing this Kiehl's cleanser. The great thing about this brand is that they offer samples. I have tried the cleanser and I share your impression. It made me break out. I did not try it around the eyes. I love the Midnight Recovery Oil, but not the cleanser. Have a lovely evening!

  14. Cleansing oils are probably the best things for me. I'm super low maintenance when it comes to skin care, so for the longest time I would just use makeup wipes to clean my face. Gross I know. Cleansing oils helped my skin so freaking much. 2 in 1 for us lazy girls :D

  16. I've always taken good care of my facial skin and started a regimen in my teens. Over the years, I've changed products but kept up the work. It makes a difference!

  17. Thank you so much for your honest review. I don't really have a skin care regimen, I just make sure I wash my face before bed. I have sensitive skin so I use only the mildest facial solutions available. It is different though for body lotions. I don't have any issues with that. Thanks again for sharing.
